Abstract
Credit had been one of the important economic activities is ancient India. As an important component of trade and commerce, credit has played a unique role for the economic development of nations. The samskrt term Kusida had found, although somewhat late, a key position in the scope of economic studies. It was included as an important part of study under the science of varta.
