Abstract

The third gender commonly and widely known as transgenders have been a part of the society since time immemorial dating back to the histories of many cultures , civilizations and religions. Existence of transgender people has also been traced down to  the Hindu mythology. However ,much as the figures in the mythologies are well known and celebrated amongst the respective  religious sects , our societies have not been that welcoming to the same in the current times. A transgender person can be of any age , religion, nationality and may or may not resemble the behavioral characteristics of a certain sex and is entitled to the same rights , resources and laws as that of any other citizen of the country as they are equally a part of the society .
