Abstract

The third gender is a concept that gained currency recently. The paper unveils the problematized existence of the third gender in a patriarchal world from the views of a trans woman . She is born with male sexuality and a female psyche. Society advances forward with blinkers. They see only what they intend to see and listen what they want to listen. It is a world ruled by majority so the voices of Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgender are often unheard. The paper tries to redefine roles assigned to gender in a dwindling modern world where boundaries are mere shadow lines.Norms of the society are created to gratify the majority. Rights of the minority are often caught up in the intricacies of the law.It is the need of the hour to move beyond the chasms created by traditions and culture to create a space that accommodate everyone without gender biases.
